5. More About Yahoo Groups

  • Yahoo Groups are free, email announcement systems. 
  • Typically people can join them (subscribe) and leave them (unsubscribe) as they wish.
  • When an "Announcer" sends an email, all subscribers get a copy (like a newspaper). 
  • The Yahoo system also automatically creates a separate web page ("message archive") for each announcement that is sent.
  • Your email address is safe, and not seen by anyone except by myself, the list custodian.

Comments About Subscribing

  • You can "subscribe" yourself to either of these lists, and you can also "unsubscribe" yourself at any time.
  • Note that although you COULD subscribe to both groups, you probably don't want to, because you would be getting duplicate information. 
  • You subscribe by sending a blank email (no subject, no body) to the appropriate "subscribe address".  The Yahoo software "captures" the email address you send the "subscribe" request from, and automatically adds your address to that Yahoo Group
  • Use the links on Page 3 or Page 4 to do the actual "subscribing".  
  • If you find this "subscription" process too confusing, I can manually add your address into one of the Yahoo groups for you.

You can also "unsubscribe" any time you like, by sending a blank email (no subject, no body) to the "unsubscribe address".  The Yahoo software "captures" the email address you send the "UNsubscribe" request from, and automatically "unsubscribes" (removes) your address from that Yahoo Group.
